Azraq Education & Community Fund

The Azraq Education and Community Fund (AECF) provides education opportunities and humanitarian aid for Syrian refugees living in the rural and underserved community of South Azraq, Jordan.

Overview

The war in Syria is one of the worst humanitarian crises of our time. Since 2011, more than 11 million people have fled their homes or have been killed.

Millions of Syrian families have taken refuge within neighbouring countries such as Jordan. 85% of Registered Syrian refugees are living in hosted communities in towns and villages like Azraq, where the town’s population nearly doubled from the influx of refugees.

Outside of the camps, refugees struggle to support themselves with only limited aid from international organisations available.

Many families are not eligible for food or rent subsidies and all Syrian refugees must pay for medical care and day-to-day expenses.

With the support of AECF and Aegis there has been essential supplies such as food, hygiene and emergency medical products distributed to the families in need. Humanitarian aid at times like this is critical and can provide some basic level of comfort to people who need it the most.

“AECF is grateful for the opportunity to partner with Aegis Charitable Trust in response to the humanitarian needs in the underserved community of South Azraq.”
