African Angels

African Angels provides a safe, quality primary school education for children from the Chintsa East and Glen Eden townships and surrounding farms.

Overview

The accommodation and infrastructure of African Angels was not reaching the same inspirational heights as the educational service they provide.

Fundamental basics such as clean flooring, new doors for privacy and additional furniture were in need of attention.

Top priority was the flooring, which had been painted and re-painted as a short term fix. Without being able to hygienically clean the floor, it was deemed unsanitary and did not meet the Department of Health’s requirements

The renovations were completed by the local skilled tiler, Simon. During the Pandemic tourism came to a halt in South Africa which caused many cases of unemployment, including that of Simon’s wife.

As well as revitalising the accommodation for African Angels this project provided work to the locals like Simon who was able to support their family over this difficult time. His daughter Owethu, will be living in the hostel in 2022 and benefiting from the tiles her father laid.

"The tiling has given our girls a fresh, clean and durable environment. They can now feel confident to spread out to do puzzles and activities on the floor."
